Irvsp: To obtain irreducible representations of electronic states in the VASP

Jiacheng Gao et al.

Summary: The open-source program irvsp computes irreducible representations for electronic states in all 230 space groups, using wavefunctions and space group operators generated by the Vienna ab-initio Simulation Package. It can handle spin-orbit coupling and is useful for analyzing energy bands, their connectivities, and band topology. The program has been extended to orthogonal tight-binding Hamiltonians and a sister program is also available.

Tuning two-dimensional electron and hole gases at LaInO3/BaSnO3 interfaces by polar distortions, termination, and thickness

Wahib Aggoune et al.

Summary: This study investigates the properties of the LaInO3/BaSnO3 oxide interface and forms a highly dispersive 2DEG and a strongly localized 2D hole gas in LaInO3 through charge transfer. The research demonstrates that by controlling factors such as polar distortions, termination, and thickness of the system, the characteristics of 2DEG can be effectively adjusted.

Unraveling electronic band structure of narrow-bandgap p-n nanojunctions in heterostructured nanowires

Reza R. Zamani et al.

Summary: The electronic band structure of narrow-gap materials GaSb and InAs can be studied using monochromated VEELS, providing crucial information for newly developed structures with unknown bandgaps. This technique also allows for direct comparison of bandgap values in different polytypes within a single nanostructure, helping to resolve existing controversies in band alignment predictions.

Fingerprints of optical absorption in the perovskite LaInO3: Insight from many-body theory and experiment

Wahib Aggoune et al.

Summary: A combined theoretical and experimental study was conducted on the electronic structure and optical absorption edge of the orthorhombic perovskite LaInO3. The study found the lowest-energy excitation below the fundamental gap, reflecting significant electron-hole attraction. Weak transitions around the valence band maximum were observed, with the first intense excitation appearing about 0.32 eV above. An experimental value obtained by ellipsometry coincided closely with the theoretical results, suggesting a good quantitative comparison between theory and experiment.
