Probing the Hall Voltage in Synthetic Quantum Systems

Maximilian Buser et al.

Summary: In the context of experimental advances in realizing artificial magnetic fields in quantum gases, feasible schemes were discussed to extend measurements of Hall voltage, with a focus on interacting flux ladders. Characteristic zero crossings and remarkable robustness of Hall voltage were observed, unaffected by interaction strengths, particle fillings, and ladder geometries, in contrast to Hall polarization. Additionally, site-resolved Hall responses were investigated in spatially inhomogeneous quantum phases.

Analyzing Nonequilibrium Quantum States through Snapshots with Artificial Neural Networks

A. Bohrdt et al.

Summary: Current quantum simulation experiments are exploring nonequilibrium many-body dynamics with previously inaccessible regimes, using machine learning techniques to study thermalization behavior. By employing supervised and unsupervised training methods, researchers distinguish non-equilibrium from equilibrium data and use network performance as a probe for system thermalization behavior.

Microscopic evolution of doped Mott insulators from polaronic metal to Fermi liquid

Joannis Koepsell et al.

Summary: The research reveals the competition between antiferromagnetism and hole motion in two-dimensional Mott insulators, as well as the transition from an anomalous metal to a conventional Fermi liquid with varying doping levels. Using a cold-atom quantum simulator, the transformation of multipoint correlations between spins and holes is observed to change with increasing doping, with the crossover completed around 30% hole doping. This work provides insights into theoretical approaches and potential connections to lower-temperature phenomena.

Direct sampling of projected entangled-pair states

Tom Vieijra et al.

Summary: The study introduces a new sampling algorithm for generating independent samples from PEPS, bypassing issues related to autocorrelation times and dependent samples in traditional algorithms. By introducing an auxiliary probability distribution and combining it with importance sampling, accurate evaluation of expectation values is achieved.

Numerically exact mimicking of quantum gas microscopy for interacting lattice fermions

Stephan Humeniuk et al.

Summary: The numerical method presented reproduces fermionic quantum gas microscope experiments in equilibrium by directly sampling pseudodensity matrices, resolving the sign problem in QMC simulations. It allows for the computation of distribution functions of arbitrary quantities defined in occupation number space and facilitates the computation of complicated conditional correlation functions.

Bosonic Pfaffian state in the Hofstadter-Bose-Hubbard model

F. A. Palm et al.

Summary: In this study, the authors use the DMRG method to investigate the Hofstadter-Bose-Hubbard model and find that under specific conditions, its ground state is a non-Abelian Pfaffian analog with paired characteristics and a charge gap in the bulk. The behaviors of two- and three-particle correlation functions, as well as the emergence of charge density waves, serve as evidence for the close relationship between this state and the continuum Pfaffian. The discussed signatures are observable in current cold atom experiments, and the Pfaffian-like state can be readily realized in few-body systems using adiabatic preparation schemes.
