Unveiling spatial metabolome of Paeonia suffruticosa and Paeonia lactiflora roots using MALDI MS imaging

Bin Li et al.

Summary: This study performed high mass resolution MALDI MSI and MALDI tandem MSI on the root sections of Paeonia suffruticosa and Paeonia lactiflora to characterize the spatial distributions of various metabolites. The technique successfully distinguished the tissue distribution of isomers and provided comprehensive spatial information on metabolites, which could enhance our understanding of biosynthetic pathways and ensure the safety and efficacy of medicinal use.
