On vacuum fluctuations in quantum gravity and interferometer arm fluctuations

Kathryn M. Zurek

Summary: This article proposes a simple model of spacetime vacuum fluctuations motivated by AdS/CFT, and investigates the relationship between these fluctuations and metric fluctuations in general relativity. By studying the coupling between mirrors in a gravitational wave interferometer, the observability of vacuum fluctuations in experiments is explored.

The generalized second law of thermodynamics with Barrow entropy

Emmanuel N. Saridakis et al.

Summary: The study found that when the surface of a black hole deforms due to quantum-gravitational effects, the sum of the entropy enclosed by the apparent horizon plus the entropy of the horizon itself is always a non-decreasing function of time, thus validating the generalized second law of thermodynamics. However, if Barrow entropy is applied, the situation may change, and the generalized second law of thermodynamics could be violated depending on the universe's evolution. In order to avoid violation, the deformation from the standard Bekenstein-Hawking expression should be small as expected.

Different Faces of Generalized Holographic Dark Energy

Shin'ichi Nojiri et al.

Summary: In this study, the formalism of generalized holographic dark energy was extended to various dark energy models, revealing their equivalence with the generalized HDE. This confirms a symmetry between different DE models and the generalized HDE, further demonstrating the interplay between these concepts in cosmology.

Quantum discrete levels of the Universe from the early trans-Planckian vacuum to the late dark energy

Norma G. Sanchez

Summary: This passage discusses the process of going back in time to complete the Standard Model of the universe, involving Planckian and transPlanckian physics, quantum vacuum energy, and the relationship between the de Sitter Universe and the cosmological constant. It also describes the quantum discrete cosmological levels and phases, as well as the implementation of the Snyder-Yang algebra for a consistent group-theory realization.

Area-law versus Renyi and Tsallis black hole entropies

Shin'ichi Nojiri et al.

Summary: The Renyi and Tsallis entropies are discussed as potential alternatives to the Bekenstein-Hawking area-law entropy, with the importance of maintaining consistency with the notions of Hawking temperature and thermodynamical energy noted. The study also explores the possibility of relating the Renyi and Tsallis entropies to the quantum gravity corrected Bekenstein-Hawking entropy.

Evolution of dissipative and nondissipative universes in holographic cosmological models with a power-law term

Nobuyoshi Komatsu

Summary: Density perturbations related to structure formations are expected to be different in dissipative and nondissipative universes, even if the background evolution of the two universes is the same. By studying first-order density perturbations using holographic cosmological models, the A(t)-H-alpha model is found to be consistent with observations and thermodynamic constraints, indicating that the nondissipative universe described by this model is likely favored.
