Palladium(II) Pincer Complexes of Functionalized Amides with S-Modified Cysteine and Homocysteine Residues: Cytotoxic Activity and Different Aspects of Their Biological Effect on Living Cells

Svetlana G. Churusova et al.

Summary: In the search for potential new metal-based antitumor agents, two series of nonclassical palladium(II) pincer complexes based on functionalized amides with S-modified cysteine and homocysteine residues have been prepared and fully characterized. The resulting complexes exhibit a high level of cytotoxic activity against several human cancer cell lines, suggesting prospects for overcoming drug resistance in the creation of therapeutic agents. Their biological effects on living cells have revealed a remarkable ability to induce cell apoptosis and efficient cellular uptake, confirming the high anticancer potential of Pd(II) pincer complexes.

Recent advances in the synthesis of piperazine based ligands and metal complexes and their applications

Rishi Kant et al.

Summary: The piperazine scaffold is frequently found in biologically active compounds and has diverse applications in antidepressants, antipsychotics, antihistamines, antifungals, antibiotics, etc. The substitution in the nitrogen atom of piperazine not only creates potential drug molecules, but also allows versatile binding possibilities with metal ions, making it unique. Piperazine ring-based compounds have applications in antihistamine, anticancer, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties, as well as in catalysis and metal organic frameworks (MOFs).
