Fulminant myocarditis parvovirus B19 related in a young woman

Rita Pesce et al.

Summary: For an 18-year-old female patient with anatomical features unsuitable for a percutaneous device like Impella, a temporary paracorporeal continuous flow LVAD was inserted. The heart recovery allowed for LVAD removal 9 days after implantation, providing successful treatment for fulminant lymphocytic myocarditis caused by Parvovirus B19.

Myocarditis and coronary aneurysms in a child with acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2

Cristina Ciuca et al.

Summary: A 6-year-old African boy with multi-viral infection, including parvovirus B19 and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, presented with persistent fever, respiratory distress, and myocarditis leading to cardiogenic shock. Treatment with a combination of medications led to normalization of cardiac function and coronary diameters, with cardiac MRI showing mild myocardial interstitial edema indicative of cardiac stunning related to cytokine storm rather than direct viral injury.
