Effect of dissolved oxygen, temperature, and pH on polarization behavior of carbon steel in simulated concrete pore solution

Xiahe Liu et al.

Summary: The corrosion behavior of carbon steel in simulated aerated concrete pore solution at different pH and temperature is studied by in-situ corrosion potential, potentiodynamic polarization, and Tafel analysis, revealing that Fe dissolution is independent of pH and DO. Experimentally, changes in corrosion potential and resistance are attributed to a combination of anodic steel electrodissolution and cathodic water reduction in deoxygenated solutions, or oxygen reduction in aerated solutions based on temperature and DO levels.

Pitting at inclusions of the equiatomic CoCrFeMnNi alloy and improving corrosion resistance by potentiodynamic polarization in H2SO4

Li Pao et al.

Summary: The study investigated the pitting initiation site of an arc-melted equimolar CoCrFeMnNi alloy and proposed a method to improve the pitting corrosion resistance of the alloy through potentiodynamic polarization in H2SO4. The S-containing inclusions were removed and the passive film on the alloy matrix became Cr enriched, resulting in a significant enhancement in the pitting corrosion resistance.

A survey on the passivity of tempered AISI 420 martensitic stainless steel

Khashayar Morshed-Behbahani et al.

Summary: The research found that samples with less internal stress formed denser and less defective passive films on their surfaces, attributed to higher concentration of metal ions at the metal/solution interface during anodization process. Prolonged passivation times resulted in more impurities being incorporated into the growing passive film, deteriorating its electrochemical properties.
