External flow-induced highly oriented and dense nanohybrid shish-kebabs: A strategy for achieving high performance in poly (lactic acid) composites

Tairong Kuang et al.

Summary: In situ nanofibrillation is an efficient technique to enhance polymer properties, and a combination of intense external flow field with PTFE phase has shown potential in enhancing polymer properties. By applying the LOPPM method, well-aligned PTFE nanofibrils were successfully generated in PLA-based composites, resulting in superior mechanical properties due to the formation of highly oriented and dense nanohybrid shish-kebab superstructures.

A facile approach to fabricate load-bearing porous polymer scaffolds for bone tissue engineering

Tairong Kuang et al.

Summary: A simple, non-toxic, and cost-effective method was developed to fabricate high-strength and oriented porous biodegradable scaffolds. By integrating annealing treatment, pressure-induced flow processing, and particulate leaching techniques, the obtained scaffolds exhibited highly oriented pore structures and suitable pore connectivity. The scaffolds showed improved mechanical properties and good biocompatibility, making them suitable for load-bearing bone tissue applications.

Thermally reversible shape transformation of nano-patterned PNIPAAm hydrogel

Byulhana Kim et al.

Summary: In this study, a nano-patterned PNIPAAm hydrogel was prepared using UV-irradiation and soft lithography. The chemical changes and thermal properties of the hydrogel were analyzed, leading to the confirmation that the reversible shape transformation was due to swelling and shrinking. This research provides insights into the behavior of stimuli-responsive polymer materials.

Christian Luebbert et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the application of novel polymeric carriers in improving the bioavailability of poorly-soluble drug candidates, focusing on HPC as a candidate for ASD production and investigating its glass transition properties and drug stability. It was found that low-molecular weight HPC helps prevent drug crystallization, and critical drug loads above which amorphous phase separation and crystallization occur in ASDs can be predicted.

Tannic acid enhanced the physical and oxidative stability of chitin particles stabilized oil in water emulsion

Fang Yang et al.

Summary: The physical and oxidative stability of CP-TA complex stabilized emulsion was gradually enhanced with increasing TA content, attributed to decreased interfacial tension, zeta potential, increased viscosity, and antioxidant activity of TA. XRD and FTIR results showed enhanced interaction between CP and TA with increased TA content, resulting in larger clusters shown in AFM results.
