Mid-IR spectroscopy with NIR grating spectrometers

Paul Kaufmann et al.

Summary: Mid-infrared spectroscopy is an important analytical technique that can be used for a variety of materials. However, there are technical limitations in this field, such as the large noise in mid-IR detectors and the complexity and cost of bright, broadband mid-IR light sources. In this study, we bypass these limitations by using non-degenerate, broadband photon pairs from spontaneous parametric down-conversion in a nonlinear interferometer. We demonstrate spectroscopy in the mid-IR using only a visible solid-state laser and a commercial near-infrared grating spectrometer. The results show short integration times, high signal-to-noise ratios, and high spectral resolution.

Mid-infrared microscopy via position correlations of undetected photons

Inna Kviatkovsky et al.

Summary: Quantum imaging with undetected photons (QIUP) is a powerful imaging tool that utilizes the spatial entanglement of photon pairs to achieve high-resolution imaging. By exploiting the tight position correlations formed within photon pairs at birth, imaging in challenging spectral regions becomes possible. This technique has significant potential for applications in life sciences and industrial imaging.

Quantum holography with undetected light

Sebastian Toepfer et al.

Summary: Holography uses interference of a light field to reconstruct the spatial shape of an object, but traditional methods are limited by detection constraints outside the visible range. By implementing phase-shifting holography with nonclassical states of light and quantum interference between two-photon probability amplitudes, it is possible to overcome these limitations and retrieve the spatial shape of transmitted/reflected photons from the object.

Resolution limit in quantum imaging with undetected photons using position correlations

Balakrishnan Viswanathan et al.

Summary: QIUP is a unique method of image acquisition using undetected photons, relying on quantum interference and spatial correlations between twin photons to form an image. The resolution limits of QIUP are determined by the spatial correlation between twin photons and cannot be further improved by conventional optical techniques.

Photon Pairs from Resonant Metasurfaces

Tomas Santiago-Cruz et al.

Summary: All-dielectric optical metasurfaces are able to manipulate light in different degrees of freedom and demonstrate the first-time generation of photon pairs via spontaneous parametric-down conversion. By engineering the quantum optical metasurface, the photon-pair spectrum can be tailored in a controlled way, enhancing the rate of pair production up to 2 orders of magnitude compared to unpatterned films. These results enable flat-optics sources of entangled photons, providing a new promising platform for quantum optics experiments.

Ultraviolet resonance Raman spectroscopy with a continuously tunable picosecond laser: Application to the supramolecular ligand guanidiniocarbonyl pyrrole (GCP)

Summary: A UVRR spectroscopy setup with a picosecond pulsed laser excitation source tunable in the 210-2600 nm range is presented. By studying an artificial ligand, the optimum laser excitation wavelength for UVRR spectroscopy is determined to be 266 nm, with UVRR spectra detectable in the range of 266-275 nm with high signal-to-noise ratio. The flexibility of this tunable UVRR setup allows for identifying optimum conditions for other supramolecular ligands for peptide/protein recognition.
