Efficient removal of microplastics from wastewater by an electrocoagulation process

Maocai Shen et al.

Summary: This study investigated the removal performance, mechanism, and influencing factors of microplastics in wastewater treatment by electrocoagulation (EC). It was found that aluminum anode EC is an effective method to remove microplastics with a removal rate above 80%. The efficiency of microplastic removal by EC is influenced by electrolyte concentration and applied voltage density, with flocculation and charge neutralization occurring simultaneously during the process.

Synthesis of N-Doped TiO2 for Efficient Photocatalytic Degradation of Atmospheric NOx

Tamal Tahsin Khan et al.

Summary: Titanium oxide (TiO2) is a potential photocatalyst for removing toxic NOx from the atmosphere, but its low absorption of visible light and high charge recombination limit its practical application. Nitrogen-doped TiO2 (TC) shows enhanced visible-light absorption and improved separation/transfer of photo-excited charge carriers, leading to excellent photocatalytic activities in NO oxidation under UV and visible light irradiation.

Pt Single Atoms Supported on N-Doped Mesoporous Hollow Carbon Spheres with Enhanced Electrocatalytic H2-Evolution Activity

Panyong Kuang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the tailoring of the electronic structure of Pt single atoms supported on N-doped mesoporous hollow carbon spheres through strong EMSI engineering, leading to the Pt-1/NMHCS composite exhibiting higher activity and stability in catalyzing the electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction compared to Pt-NP and commercial Pt/C. The strong EMSI effect in a unique N-1-Pt-1-C-2 coordination structure significantly modifies the electronic structure of Pt 5d states, enhancing the reduction of adsorbed proton and facilitating H-H coupling for Pt-like HER activity.

Nitrogen doping-mediated oxygen vacancies enhancing co-catalyst-free solar photocatalytic H2 production activity in anatase TiO2 nanosheet assembly

Mohamed Esmat et al.

Summary: Introducing oxygen vacancies (Vo) into TiO2 photocatalyst along with N doping is proposed as an alternative strategy for achieving efficient co-catalyst-free solar photocatalytic activity under less extreme conditions. The synthesized material exhibits good co-catalyst-free solar photocatalytic activity for hydrogen evolution via water splitting under irradiation with simulated solar light, showing higher efficiency compared to typical co-catalyst-free defective TiO2 materials. The introduced Vo is believed to play a role in facilitating charge separation and improving photocatalytic efficiency.
