Metal-ion-binding properties of ulvan extracted from Ulva clathrata and structural characterization of its complexes

Summary: Ulvan extracted from the cell wall of green algae is a good ligand for metal ions. It exhibits good metal ion adsorption capacity at pH 7 and 50 degrees C, with adsorption processes explained by the Freundlich isotherm model and the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. Cr(III) can trigger crosslinking of ulvan chains and has a higher adsorption capacity compared to other metal ions.

Summary: This study investigated the chemical composition, antioxidant, and enzyme inhibitory activities of solvent extract and fractions of Stachys riederi var. japonica, as well as the effects of SJ-EAF in STZ induced type 2 diabetic mice. The results showed that SJ-EAF exhibited promising antidiabetic activity with good antioxidant properties and enzyme inhibitory effects without cytotoxicity, enhancing glucose uptake in cells.
