Electrowetting-actuated optofluidic phase modulator

Wenjie Zhang et al.

Summary: An optofluidic phase modulator based on electrowetting is proposed in this paper, utilizing the movement of a flat interface between two immiscible liquids to change the optical path length and achieve optical phase modulation. A prototype of the modulator is fabricated in experiment to demonstrate its capability of phase modulation, with the potential for achieving optical phase shift up to 6.68π when driven with 150 V. The widespread applications of such a modulator are foreseeable.

Design and Characteristics of an Optofluidic Phase Modulator Based on Dielectrowetting

Zhongcheng Liang et al.

Summary: An optofluidic phase modulator based on dielectrowetting is designed and fabricated in this paper to adjust the optical phase through voltage adjustment. Experimental results show that the modulation range of the optical phase modulator can reach 9.366 pi when the voltage is increased to 150 V.

Accelerated electrowetting-based tunable fluidic lenses

Pengpeng Zhao et al.

Summary: This study proposes methods to enhance the response speed of electrowetting-based tunable fluidic lenses by optimizing fluid properties and modifying actuation voltages. Through simulations and careful design of actuation pulses, the response time can be significantly reduced, improving the performance of the systems.

Tunable fluidic lens with a dynamic high-order aberration control

Pengpeng Zhao et al.

Summary: This paper presents a tunable optofluidic lens controlled by 32 azimuthally placed electrodes, which can correct and compensate for most aberrations up to the fourth radial Zernike order. The ability to control the meniscus shape with high spatial accuracy allows for focal length tunability and reduction in imaging aberrations, demonstrating the potential for a single component to address externally induced aberrations.
