Enhanced Charge Transport in Two-Dimensional Materials through Light-Matter Strong Coupling

Pooja Bhatt et al.

Summary: Recent experiments show that material properties like charge transport can be controlled by coupling to a vacuum electromagnetic field. The study found that in strongly coupled WS2, electron mobility is enhanced over 50 times at room temperature, and the I-on/I-off ratio of the device increases by 2 orders of magnitude without chemical modification of the active layer. These results suggest a promising way of modifying electronic properties by strong light-matter interaction.

Strain-gradient induced topological transition in bent nanoribbons of the Dirac semimetal Cd3As2

Wen-Zhuang Zheng et al.

Summary: Dirac semimetal serves as an ideal platform for realizing exotic states of matter, and topological phase transitions can switch between different topological states. This paper experimentally demonstrates the effective approach of inducing topological phase transition in Cd3As2 nanoribbons by applying a bending strain profile, showing the significant impact of strain gradient on the evolution of energy band structures.

Lattice dynamics of graphene nanoribbons under twisting

Zhao Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, the lattice dynamics of twisted graphene nanoribbons were investigated using the density-functional tight-binding method based on screw symmetry. The results showed that the reduction in phonon group velocity caused by twisting decreases the lattice thermal conductivity. These findings offer inspiration for designing graphene-based phononic devices tailored by inhomogeneous strain.
