Development of bioglass coating reinforced with hydroxyapatite whiskers on TiO2 nanotubes via electrophoretic deposition

Shirin Khanmohammadi et al.

Summary: The electrophoretic deposition of bioglass coatings reinforced with hydroxyapatite whiskers on anodized titanium substrates showed enhanced adhesion strength for fine bioglass particles, with no effect on microhardness and bioactivity. The introduction of titania nanotubes during anodizing process improved the bactericidal effect and cellular behavior of the coatings, while also reducing corrosion current density compared to bare titanium.
