An integrative transcriptional logic model of hepatic insulin resistance

Takumi Kitamoto et al.

Summary: The study found that genes related to glucose metabolism are primarily regulated by specific enhancers in a fasting-dependent manner, while lipid genes are regulated through different enhancer elements. Insulin resistance and hyperglycemia were associated with a spreading of transcription factor binding to enhancers, leading to unique target sites and potentially contributing to the intractable nature of hepatic insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes.
