The InSe/g-CN van der Waals hybrid heterojunction as a photocatalyst for water splitting driven by visible light

Cheng He et al.

Summary: In this study, the photocatalytic activity of water splitting in the InSe/g-CN heterojunction is theoretically investigated using first-principles calculations. It is found that the InSe/g-CN heterojunction exhibits efficient electron-hole separation and meets the criteria for water photolysis. Thermodynamic sustainability of photolysis water is evaluated by calculating the changes in Gibbs free energy. The results suggest that the InSe/g-CN heterojunction can drive the spontaneous progress of both the oxygen evolution reaction and the hydrogen evolution reaction. Additionally, the heterojunction shows a high solar conversion efficiency, indicating its promising commercial applications.

Band Alignment in Monolayer Boron Phosphide with Janus MoSSe Heterobilayers under Stran and Electric Field

Y. Mogulkoc et al.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that Janus structures and heterobilayers may have superior properties compared to 2D materials. The electronic and optical properties of MBP/MoSSe and MoSSe/MBP heterobilayers undergo significant changes under biaxial and uniaxial strain, as well as under the influence of electric fields. The absorption peaks of the heterobilayers' pristine forms are in the visible region, making them promising for photovoltaic applications, with additional potential for optoelectronic devices under the effects of external electric fields and strain.
