Electric dipole and quadrupole properties of the Cd atom for atomic-clock applications

X. T. Guo et al.

Summary: Accurate values of atomic properties sensitive to an external electric field, such as static electric dipole and quadrupole polarizabilities, were determined for the Cd atom using a four-component relativistic coupled-cluster theory. The study showed the importance of electron correlation effects in such calculations and highlighted the usefulness of precise knowledge of these spectroscopic properties in estimating systematics of optical clocks built using Cd atoms.
