Association between population density and infection rate suggests the importance of social distancing and travel restriction in reducing the COVID-19 pandemic

Heliang Yin et al.

Summary: The study found a positive correlation between population density and infection rate of COVID-19 in cities in China and the USA, highlighting the importance of measures such as social distancing and travel restrictions in preventing the spread of the disease. Interestingly, the analysis also showed that these associations were not influenced by the first case of COVID-19.

Co-release potential and human health risk of heavy metals from galvanized steel pipe scales under stagnation conditions of drinking water

Yimei Tian et al.

Summary: The re-release of heavy metals accumulated in the drinking water distribution systems may pose a significant threat to water quality and human health. This study found that the main source of metal release under stagnation water conditions is the acid-soluble fraction. The chronic noncarcinogenic risk caused by soluble metals can be ignored under normal stagnation times, and there is a significant linear co-release correlation between calcium and manganese.
