A review study on application of gel dosimeters in low energy radiation dosimetry

Zahra Alyani Nezhad et al.

Summary: This systematic review focused on the applications of gel dosimetry in low energy radiation contexts, demonstrating that various types of gel dosimeters have acceptable accuracy and high resolution in such settings but also come with their own limitations and advantages.

Effect of ionizing radiation on the colorimetric properties of PVA-GTA Xylenol Orange Fricke gel dosimeters

Salvatore Gallo et al.

Summary: In this study, Fricke gel dosimeters were prepared and irradiated to investigate color changes and oxidation processes. The results showed no significant differences in the oxidation effect on the dosimeters within the investigated dose range. This study suggested that colorimetric analysis, combined with the spectrophotometric one, can be a useful tool for characterizing the samples.

Dosimetric investigations on radiation-induced Ag nanoparticles in a gel dosimeter

Soad M. Tadros et al.

Summary: The study found that the radiation sensitivity of the gel increases with higher concentrations of Ag+ and isopropanol, while decreases with boosting gelatin content and H+ ions. The gel exhibits good water equivalency in energies ranging from 0.3 to 20 MeV and is potentially suitable for doses between 5-100 Gy.

Hydrogels for Three-Dimensional Ionizing-Radiation Dosimetry

Maurizio Marrale et al.

Summary: Radiation-sensitive gels are a recent and promising development for RT dosimetry, offering tissue-equivalent and continuous 3D dose measurements. Their response is largely independent of radiation quality and dose rate, making them suitable for quality assessment of RT systems.
