In this study, we investigate the transverse polarization of hyperons produced in semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering, ep -> e Lambda X-up arrow, using the framework of collinear twist-3 factorization. The cross section of the process is computed in the leading order with respect to the QCD coupling constant, considering the twist-3 distribution functions and quark fragmentation functions. The constraint relations among the twist-3 fragmentation functions are taken into account to simplify the formula. This study is highly relevant to the future Electron Ion Collider experiment regarding large transverse momentum hyperon production.
