Identify thrombin inhibitor with novel skeleton based on virtual screening study

Zhipeng Tang et al.

Summary: This paper introduces the use of virtual screening methods, specifically pharmacophore screening, to identify potential anticoagulant compounds. Through the screening process, two compounds with anticoagulant effects were identified, laying the foundation for further research and development in the field of thrombin inhibitors.

Role of structural properties of bioactive peptides in their stability during simulated gastrointestinal digestion: A systematic review

Tausif Ahmed et al.

Summary: This systematic review investigated peptide sequences and structural stability, finding that peptides resistant to gastrointestinal digestion had smaller molecular size and hydrophobicity, higher positive net charge at intestinal pH, branched-chain aliphatic N-terminal residues, the absence of C-terminal leucine, higher histidine content, and higher proline, especially at the C-terminal, compared to unstable peptides. These findings provide important guidelines for the selection and rational design of BAPs with conserved structure and therapeutic activity in vivo.

Selenium-containing soybean antioxidant peptides: Preparation and comprehensive comparison of different selenium supplements

Xing Zhang et al.

Summary: The study showed that antioxidative peptides from selenium-containing soybeans exhibit high cellular antioxidant activity and protective effects against oxidative stress-related diseases. These peptides can be efficiently absorbed and reverse inflammatory responses in cells, while also inhibiting brain oxidative stress. Comparing with other forms of selenium, the synergistic effects of selenium and peptides in antioxidant activity were highlighted in this study.

Research progress on separation of selenoproteins/Se-enriched peptides and their physiological activities

Jian Zhang et al.

Summary: Selenium is an essential nutrient with antioxidant and immune properties, and its deficiency is linked to various diseases and dysfunctions in humans. Organic selenium is recommended over inorganic selenium due to its higher bioavailability and lower toxicity. Selenium is present in various selenoproteins that play important roles in the immune and oxidation systems of the human body.
