Body Mass Index Specifiers in Anorexia Nervosa: Anything below the Extreme?

Federica Toppino et al.

Summary: This study examines the validity of BMI specifiers in inpatients with anorexia nervosa (AN) and their contribution to predicting hospitalization outcomes. The findings suggest that current BMI classifications may not be valid indicators for severe inpatients with AN and that extremely low BMI subgroups do not represent a clinically distinct group.

Causal mediation analysis in presence of multiple mediators uncausally related

Allan Jerolon et al.

Summary: Mediation analysis is a popular practice used to disentangle the effects of a treatment on an outcome through alternative causal mechanisms. The standard approach is based on counterfactuals, with non-parametrically identifiable natural direct and joint indirect effects in cases of mediation with uncausally related mediators. Different methods have been developed to estimate these effects, with important methodological advances introduced in the last decade.

Affective temperaments and their relationships with life events in bipolar patients and siblings: a controlled study

Bochra Nourhene Saguem et al.

Summary: The study evaluated affective temperaments in bipolar patients, healthy siblings, and controls, finding higher scores in cyclothymic and hyperthymic temperaments in bipolar patients and siblings. Anxious/cyclothymic temperament may at least partially explain the high number of recent life events in bipolar patients and siblings.
