Prediction of Depression Severity Scores Based on Functional Connectivity and Complexity of the EEG Signal

Yousef Mohammadi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between brain activity of depression patients and the severity of depression. Significant correlations were found between functional connectivity and complexity measures in different frequency bands and depression severity, especially in the alpha band. The linear regression model demonstrated the potential for accurately predicting depression severity using EEG features from the alpha band.

Frontal Alpha EEG Asymmetry Variation of Depression Patients Assessed by Entropy Measures and Lemple-Ziv Complexity

Summary: The study found increased frontal alpha asymmetry in depression patients, which further increases as depression deepens. The newly proposed asymmetry indexes may serve as promising biomarkers for future clinical depression detection.

Distinct alterations in resting-state electroencephalogram during eyes closed and eyes open and between morning and evening are present in first-episode psychosis patients

Yingyi Zhang et al.

Summary: The study found reductions in low alpha power during morning resting-state EEG recordings in first-episode psychosis patients compared to healthy controls, as well as a trend towards decreased theta power in parietal regions during evening resting-state EEG recordings. Furthermore, decreased high alpha power in frontal and left parietal regions was observed during evening eyes-open conditions. Reduced low alpha power during morning resting-state conditions was associated with more severe positive symptoms.
