Ratiometric fluorescence resonance energy transfer aptasensor for highly sensitive and selective detection of Acinetobacter baumannii bacteria in urine sample using carbon dots as optical nanoprobes

Delnia Bahari et al.

Summary: A ratiometric fluorescent apta-sensor was developed for sensitive and selective detection of Acinetobacter baumannii (Ab) bacteria in biological samples, based on fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) between ortho-phenylenediamines carbon dot (o-CD), nitrogen-doped carbon nanodots (NCND) as donor's species, and graphene oxide (GO) as acceptor. The sensor showed a wide range of fluorescence intensity ratio variation with the change in bacterial concentration and a low detection limit, demonstrating its feasibility for selective detection of A. baumannii in urine samples.

Carbon Dots Fluorescence-Based Colorimetric Sensor for Sensitive Detection of Aluminum Ions with a Smartphone

Wei Wei et al.

Summary: Blue emission carbon dots (CDs) were synthesized using naringin as precursor in this study, and were utilized to develop a ratiometric fluorescence sensor for sensitive analysis of Al3+ with high accuracy. The color change of CDs probe from blue to green under UV lamp, combined with smartphone and RGB analysis, allows for visual detection of Al3+ with high sensitivity.

Colorimetric detection of water content in organic solvents via a smartphone with fluorescent Ag nanoclusters

Ningxin Kong et al.

Summary: The water content in solvents can be accurately detected using fluorescent Ag nanoclusters with the help of a smartphone. The G/B values showed a linear relationship with water content in ethanol, with a detection limit of 4.48%. The method showed good consistency when applied to real samples like white wine and medical alcohol.
