Producing and detecting long-lived particles at different experiments at the LHC

Chaochen Yuan et al.

Summary: This study proposes a new strategy to search for long-lived particles at the LHC, utilizing different experiments and detectors to produce and detect their decay products. By selecting the appropriate collision points and detection equipment, the acceptance of these particles can be improved.

Challenges for heavy QCD axion inflation

Probing light dark scalars with future experiments

Enrico Bertuzzo et al.

Summary: Investigated a dark sector with a pair of light non-degenerate scalar particles coupled to the visible sector through heavier mediators. The heaviest dark state is long-lived, offering new testable signals through its decays. Future experiments can test large portions of the currently unexplored parameter space, complementing future High-Luminosity LHC searches.

Long-lived sterile neutrinos at the LHC in effective field theory

Jordy de Vries et al.

Summary: This study examines the potential of displaced-vertex search for sterile neutrinos at the LHC in the nu SMEFT framework, investigating production and decay mechanisms including standard mixing and higher-dimensional operators. Sensitivities for detecting sterile neutrinos in various experiments were explored, with simulations showing that high-luminosity LHC experiments are competitive in probing EFT operators.

Heavy neutral leptons in effective field theory and the high-luminosity LHC

Giovanna Cottin et al.

Summary: This study focuses on long-lived HNLs in NRSMEFT, which may have a significant enhancement in production cross sections compared to the minimal case of HNLs being produced only via mixing with SM neutrinos. Sensitivities for the ATLAS detector and future far-detector experiments are calculated, showing that the sensitive ranges of HNL mass and mixing angle are much larger than in the minimal case. Both Dirac and Majorana HNLs are studied, revealing phenomenological differences for HNL masses above roughly 100 GeV.

Forward experiment sensitivity estimator for the LHC and future hadron colliders

Felix Kling et al.

Summary: This article introduces the numerical software package FORESEE, which can simulate the sensitivity range of experiments in the far-forward direction and provide validated forward spectra for various Standard Model species at different energy levels. The capabilities of FORESEE are demonstrated for dark photon and dark Higgs boson models, as well as the search for light upphilic scalars. Furthermore, the prospects for LLP searches in proposed future hadron colliders are discussed for the first time, including the High-Energy LHC, Super proton-proton Collider, and Future Circular Collider.

R-parity violation and light neutralinos at ANUBIS and MAPP

Herbert K. Dreiner et al.

Summary: This study investigates the long-lived nature of the lightest neutralino in R-parity-violating supersymmetry, leading to displaced vertices in fixed-target and collider experiments, and compares the sensitivity reach of proposed experiments ANUBIS and MoEDAL-MAPP at the LHC with other current and proposed experiments such as ATLAS, CODEX-b, and MATHUSLA. The results show that ANUBIS and MAPP could exhibit complementary or superior sensitivity in these scenarios.
