Discovery and fine-mapping of height loci via high-density imputation of GWASs in individuals of African ancestry

Mariaelisa Graff et al.

Summary: The study identified new height-related loci in African ancestry individuals and revealed additional signals by combining African and European GWAS data, improving the fine-mapping of potential causal variants shared between populations of African and European ancestry.

A Genome-Wide Association Study of Novel Genetic Variants Associated With Anthropometric Traits in Koreans

Hye-Won Cho et al.

Summary: Most previous GWAS studies on anthropometric traits focused on European populations, while this study involving Korean individuals identified new genetic factors associated with these traits. Comparisons with previous studies revealed novel loci and unique genetic variants specific to the Asian population. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the genetic effects on anthropometric phenotypes in East Asians.

Allele frequency differentiation at height-associated SNPs among continental human populations

Minhui Chen et al.

Summary: Methods to detect polygenic adaptation have been shown to be sensitive to uncorrected stratification in GWAS, casting doubts on the prevalence of polygenic adaptation among humans. Although there is a significant differentiation in frequencies of height-associated SNPs among continental populations, there is no significant difference in polygenic height scores across continents, which may be influenced by independent converging selections.

GWAS of allometric body-shape indices in UK Biobank identifies loci suggesting associations with morphogenesis, organogenesis, adrenal cell renewal and cancer

Sofia Christakoudi et al.

Summary: This study conducted a genome-wide association study of body shape indices and identified novel genetic variants associated with body shape, particularly highlighting the importance of genes related to visceral adipose tissue and adrenal cell renewal. The findings also revealed gender-specific genetic associations, with region-specific variants associated with different body shape indices in women and men.
