[18F]DCFPyL PET/CT in detection and localization of recurrent prostate cancer following prostatectomy including low PSA < 0.5 ng/mL

Elisa Perry et al.

Summary: This retrospective multicenter analysis evaluated the performance of PSMA PET/CT with [F-18]DCFPyL in detecting and localizing recurrent prostate cancer post RP. The study found that even at low PSA levels, the detection efficacy of [F-18]DCFPyL PET/CT was high, highlighting the importance of considering patients with PSA levels < 0.5 ng/mL in guidelines and funding pathways for PSMA PET/CT.

Summary: 18F-DCFPyL PSMA PET/CT has good sensitivity and specificity for diagnosing prostate cancer, with diagnostic rate correlated with PSA levels. Further large-scale, high-quality studies are needed in the future.

Performance of 18F-DCFPyL PET/CT Imaging in Early Detection of Biochemically Recurrent Prostate Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Jiale Sun et al.

Summary: This study included nine eligible studies involving 844 patients, showing that the detection rate of 18F-DCFPyL PET/CT in BRPCa was 81%, with a higher detection rate of 88.8% for patients with PSA >= 0.5 ng/ml and 47.2% for patients with PSA < 0.5 ng/ml. The results suggest that 18F-DCFPyL PET/CT has a relatively high detection rate in BRPCa and may exhibit improved sensitivity in patients with higher PSA levels.

Patterns of Recurrence, Detection Rates, and Impact of 18-F Fluciclovine PET/CT on the Management of Men With Recurrent Prostate Cancer

Jamie Michael et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the characteristics of FACBC PET/CT in detecting recurrent prostate cancer after radiation or prostatectomy. The results showed that FACBC PET/CT demonstrated increased detection of recurrent prostate cancer with increasing PSA levels, with most recurrences found outside the pelvis. Additionally, FACBC PET/CT results led to changes in recommended radiotherapy treatment plans in a significant percentage of men postprostatectomy with recurrence.

The Diagnostic Role of 18F-Choline, 18F-Fluciclovine and 18F-PSMA PET/CT in the Detection of Prostate Cancer With Biochemical Recurrence: A Meta-Analysis

Rang Wang et al.

Summary: This meta-analysis showed that F-18-labeled choline, fluciclovine, and PSMA PET/CT have promising diagnostic accuracy for detecting biochemical recurrence in prostate cancer patients. F-18-choline demonstrated superior sensitivity and specificity, with F-18-PSMA showing higher detection rates, especially in low PSA levels.
