Summary: Vaccines protecting from COVID-19 are currently scarce, leading to uncertainty in prioritizing certain groups for vaccination due to changing evidence and infection dynamics. Vaccine allocation strategies must explicitly state reasons for prioritization and transparently communicate risks and benefits of vaccination with different vaccines at different times. International efforts have so far failed to ensure equitable access to vaccines across different wealth settings despite integrating many concepts of prioritization.
