Bismuth Amides Mediate Facile and Highly Selective Pn-Pn Radical-Coupling Reactions (Pn=N, P, As)

Kai Oberdorf et al.

Summary: The controlled release of aminyl radicals from bismuth amide species at ambient temperature enables selective N-N coupling reactions to yield hydrazines. Analyzes using various spectroscopy techniques and calculations reveal low homolytic bond-dissociation energies, suggesting radical coupling in the coordination sphere of bismuth, and demonstrate the effectiveness of electronic and steric parameters in controlling these reactions.

2,6-Diisopropylphenyl-Substituted Bismuth Compounds: Synthesis, Structure, and Reactivity

Tobias Dunaj et al.

Summary: Introduction of the 2,6-diisopropylphenyl (Dipp) substituent led to the synthesis of various diaryl bismuth compounds, which were characterized for their structures and properties. Reactivity of a dibismuthane towards elemental sulfur was also investigated, leading to the characterization of dibismuthanyl sulfide compounds formed.

Synthesis of Tetrahedranes Containing the Unique Bridging Hetero-Dipnictogen Ligand EE′ (E ≠ E′ = P, As, Sb, Bi)

Luis Dutsch et al.

Summary: A new synthetic route has been developed to produce rare tetrahedral mixed main group transition metal compounds containing arsenic, antimony, bismuth, etc., with multiple bond characteristics and without the need for organic substituents. These complexes can be efficiently synthesized using a simple one-pot reaction, leading to higher yields and simplifying the process, which holds great significance for expanding the category of rare main group transition metal compounds.

Investigation on Arsenic-Antimony- and Arsenic-Bismuth Bond Containing Interpnictogen Chain Molecules

Christian Ritter et al.

Summary: The stepwise synthesis of novel molecules containing As-Sb and As-Bi bonds was achieved by reacting tBu(2)ECl with tBuAs(H)Li to prepare binary interpnictogen compounds, followed by lithiation to obtain dimeric compounds. Compound 5 was found to be suitable for the preparation of longer chains, and the synthesis was confirmed through experiments.
