Photochemical degradation of chloramphenicol over jarosite/oxalate system: Performance and mechanism investigation

Xuqian Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigated a photochemical catalytic system comprising of bio-synthesized jarosite and oxalic acid for efficient degradation of antibiotic chloramphenicol in wastewater treatment. The main mechanism for CAP degradation was suggested to be a radical chain reaction induced by photosensitive Fe(III)-Ox complexes under light irradiation. The developed system shows great potential for practical application in antibiotic-containing wastewater treatment.
