Expansion of Takayanagi model by interphase characteristics and filler size to approximate the tensile modulus of halloysite-nanotube-filled system

Yasser Zare et al.

Summary: Existing models are inadequate for the modulus of nanocomposites due to the neglect of the interphase section. This study introduces an advanced model that incorporates the interphase features and halloysite nanotube size to accurately predict the modulus of HNT-based systems. Experimental results confirm the reliability of the advanced model and demonstrate the significant influence of interphase depth, modulus, and HNT radius on the modulus of the system.

Co-electrospun poly(lactic acid)/gelatin nanofibrous scaffold prepared by a new solvent system: morphological, mechanical and in vitro degradability properties

Shiva Rashedi et al.

Summary: Poly(lactic acid)-gelatin core-shell nanofibers were successfully prepared using a coaxial electrospinning method with new solvents. The core-shell structure was confirmed by TEM and ATR-FTIR, and the nanofibers exhibited a bead-free ribbon-like morphology with an average diameter of 347 +/- 88 nm. The low PLA content in the nanofibers was found to improve mechanical properties, while crosslinking of the shell significantly strengthened the nanofibers.

Summary: This study focused on the effect of SrR content on core-sheath nanofibrous scaffolds in terms of morphology, mechanical properties, release behaviors, and biological properties. The results showed that increasing SrR content led to larger fiber diameter and decreased crystallinity. Addition of SrR improved mesenchymal stem cell proliferation and gene expression, and SrR-loaded nanofibers enhanced bone formation in a rat model with calvarial defects.

Yasser Zare et al.

Summary: A simple model focusing on the interphase region is developed to determine the strength of HNT-based nanocomposites, taking into consideration factors such as HNT concentration, radius, interphase depth, and strength. Experimental data and parametric investigations support the model's predictions, showing that thinner HNTs and a thicker, stronger interphase, along with a higher HNT concentration, lead to a stronger nanocomposite.
