Plant Beneficial Features and Application of Paraburkholderia sp. NhPBG1 Isolated from Pitcher of Nepenthes hamblack

Aswani Ravi et al.

Summary: Pitchers of carnivorous plants are unique structures used for trapping insects and other small invertebrates, assisted by bacterial communities that have beneficial functions for plants. The bacterial isolate NhPBG1 from Nepenthes hamblack pitcher shows inhibitory activity against various phytopathogens and positive plant beneficial traits. Pre-treatment with NhPBG1 protects Zingiber officinale rhizome from pathogenic infection, with metabolite profiling revealing antifungal compounds pyocyanin and 1-hydroxyphenazine.

Dual RNA-Sequencing Analysis of Resistant (Pinus pinea) and Susceptible (Pinus radiata) Hosts during Fusarium circinatum Challenge

Cristina Zamora-Ballesteros et al.

Summary: This study identified differences in molecular responses and physiological traits between the highly susceptible Pinus radiata and the highly resistant Pinus pinea to Fusarium circinatum at an early infection stage. While no significant changes were found in physiological analysis upon pathogen infection, transcriptional reprogramming was observed mainly in the resistant species.

Temporal physiological response of pine to Fusarium circinatum infection is dependent on host susceptibility level: the role of ABA catabolism

Joana Amaral et al.

Summary: This study explored the response of Pinus radiata and Pinus pinea to Fusarium circinatum infection, revealing different hormonal and oxidative stress-related changes. Pinus pinea showed better resistance to PPC at 6 days post-infection, which could be partly explained by hormone confocal analysis and photosynthesis maintenance for defense mechanism fuel. These results are important for developing hormone-based breeding strategies and inducing resistance to F. circinatum infection.
