Investigating TiO2-HA-PCL hybrid coating as an efficient corrosion resistant barrier of ZM21 Mg alloy

Navdeep Singh et al.

Summary: The research focuses on the design and development of TiO2-HA-PCL hybrid coating for improving the corrosion resistance of Mg alloys. The hybrid coating introduces strong hydrogen bonding and Vander wall electrostatic interaction, enhancing adhesion strength and corrosion potentials. Through immersion testing and weight loss measurements, the TiO2-HA-PCL coating demonstrates superior corrosion resistance compared to TiO2-HA coating.

Surface Modification of Biomedical MgCa4.5 and MgCa4.5Gd0.5 Alloys by Micro-Arc Oxidation

Piotr Sakiewicz et al.

Summary: The research characterized the structure and corrosion properties of MgCa4.5(Gd-0.5) alloys treated by micro-arc oxidation (MAO), finding that the addition of Gd and different voltages during the MAO process influenced the coating structure and surface pores, resulting in higher corrosion susceptibility of MgCa4.5Gd0.5 alloys. The MgCa4.5 alloy with the MAO coating established at voltage 140 V demonstrated the best anticorrosion properties.

In-situ layered double hydroxides on Mg-Ca alloy: Role of calcium in magnesium alloy

Yu Xia et al.

Summary: Increasing the Ca content in the alloy leads to a higher amount of second phase Mg2Ca, which in turn reduces the grain size and corrosion rate of the alloy. The increased amount of second phase particles and grain refinement promote the growth of LDHs, resulting in a decreased corrosion rate for the Mg-xCa alloys with LDHs.

Synergic Effect of TiO2 Filler on the Mechanical Properties of Polymer Nanocomposites

Cristina Cazan et al.

Summary: TiO2 nanocomposites as reinforcement agents significantly enhance mechanical properties, with filler size playing a crucial role. The increase in interfacial area due to small fillers leads to the generation of an interface polymer volume fraction with properties different from bulk polymer, even at low loadings. The paper focuses on the influence of composition and technological parameters on the mechanical strength of TiO2 nanocomposites with polymeric matrix.
