The influence of computer-aided polyp detection systems on reaction time for polyp detection and eye gaze

Joel Troya et al.

Summary: This study found that CADe systems are faster than humans in detecting polyps, but using CADe does not improve human reaction times. Moreover, CADe increased misinterpretation of normal mucosa and decreased the eye travel distance.

Comparing the number and relevance of false activations between 2 artificial intelligence computer-aided detection systems: the NOISE study

Marco Spadaccini et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to validate a previously developed classification of false-positive (FP) activations and compare the performances of different brands of approved computer-aided detection (CADe) systems. The results showed that there was no significant difference in the number and causes of false activations between the two different brands of CADe systems. The use of standardized nomenclature provided comparable results.

Performance of artificial intelligence in colonoscopy for adenoma and polyp detection: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Cesare Hassan et al.

Summary: The meta-analysis found that incorporating artificial intelligence as an aid for detecting colorectal neoplasia significantly increases the detection rate of colorectal neoplasia, independently of the main adenoma characteristics.

Computer-aided detection of colorectal polyps using a newly generated deep convolutional neural network: from development to first clinical experience

Lukas Pfeifer et al.

Summary: The use of a newly developed deep convolutional neural network (DCNN) in this study significantly improved the sensitivity and specificity for polyp detection both ex vivo and in vivo, demonstrating the potential for increasing the detection of colorectal polyps during colonoscopy.
