Brij-stabilized zein nanoparticles as potential drug carriers

Agnese Gagliardi et al.

Summary: This study provides a physico-chemical characterization of zein nanosystems prepared with different Brij surfactants. The use of Brij O10 is shown to stabilize the colloidal structure and promote the formation of stable nanosystems with mean sizes around 150 nm and a narrow size distribution. These nanoparticles can efficiently retain both hydrophilic and lipophilic compounds and exhibit prolonged release, demonstrating their potential as nanocarriers for various active compounds.

Stability of Film-Forming Dispersions: Affects the Morphology and Optical Properties of Polymeric Films

Maria Gabriela De Paola et al.

Summary: Starch-based films are being explored as potential alternatives to synthetic films in food packaging, with a focus on their mechanical and optical properties. The study used Turbiscan to characterize film-forming dispersions with different compositions of starch and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), revealing that a higher CMC fraction led to reduced phase separation, indicating improved compatibility and enhanced gelification.

Curcumin-loaded core-shell biopolymer nanoparticles produced by the pH-driven method: Physicochemical and release properties

Zhenpeng Li et al.

Summary: Core-shell biopolymer nanoparticles were developed for encapsulating and releasing curcumin, and the effects of coating composition on the properties and release characteristics of the nanoparticles were studied. The encapsulated curcumin showed stable physicochemical properties and enhanced DPPH radical scavenging activity, while the gastrointestinal release was prolonged due to the thick layer formed by alginate and NaCas coating.

Fabrication, characterization, stability and re-dispersibility of curcumin-loaded gliadin-rhamnolipid composite nanoparticles using pH-driven method

Shuai Chen et al.

Summary: This study successfully prepared curcumin-loaded gliadin-rhamnolipid composite nanoparticles using a pH-driven method and found the advantages of phytic acid in nanoparticle preparation. The physicochemical properties of the composite nanoparticles depended on the mass ratio of gliadin to rhamnolipid, and rhamnolipid had a significant positive effect on stabilizing curcumin.
