A novel in-situ micro-aeration functional membrane with excellent decoloration efficiency and antifouling performance

Ying Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, a PVDF-Ni-Co membrane was fabricated using an in-situ reduction method, showing excellent conductivity, magnetism, and in-situ micro-aeration function. The membrane exhibited outstanding decoloration efficiency to RB, CR, and MB solutions, with a rejection rate of 98.33% to CR solution. Additionally, in-situ micro-aeration was confirmed to be critical in enhancing membrane antifouling performance.

Preparation of Ni@UiO-66 incorporated polyethersulfone (PES) membrane by magnetic field assisted strategy to improve permeability and photocatalytic self-cleaning ability

Jiahao Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, a PES-Ni@UiO-66 membrane was prepared by coating UiO-66 with magnetic Ni and incorporating it into the PES membrane matrix. The distribution of magnetic Ni@UiO-66 was controlled by an external magnetic field, and the hydrophilic Ni@UiO-66 was pulled onto the membrane surface, resulting in a membrane with higher hydrophilicity and superior water permeability. Moreover, the membrane exhibited excellent photocatalytic self-cleaning ability and antifouling performance due to the photocatalytic activity of the exposed Ni@UiO-66 on the membrane surface.

Modelling the critical roles of zeta potential and contact angle on colloidal fouling with a coupled XDLVO - collision attachment approach

Junxia Liu et al.

Summary: The model predicts that severe fouling occurs at low ζ(2) values, and increasing ζ(2) can significantly reduce the membrane fouling rate. The role of contact angle θ is critical, as fouling is dramatically reduced when θ is below (or above) a certain threshold value.
