Synthesis and characterization of water injection fracturing fluid for wetting and softening coal seam

Gang Zhou et al.

Summary: This study aimed to achieve dust control at coal mining faces through the use of a new carboxylic anionic surfactant, providing a safe working environment for underground operators. Testing showed the product had low surface tension, high shear viscosity, and low filtration, with superior wetting and softening effects on coal compared to traditional fracturing fluids. Through molecular dynamics simulations, it was determined that the product could effectively connect with coal molecules and greatly improve coal wetting.

CFD simulation of multi-phase and multi-component diffusion of air-dust-gas in a fully mechanized mining face

Shuzheng Song et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that high concentrations of dust form under the influence of airflow in fully mechanized mining faces, and gas tends to accumulate in specific locations, which could lead to catastrophic gas and coal dust explosions in the presence of a fire source. Therefore, these areas are considered key areas for explosion prevention and control.

Improving coal powder wettability using electrolyte assisted surfactant solution

Ping Chang et al.

Summary: The prevalence of Coal Worker's Pneumoconiosis (CWP) has been increasing due to over-exposure to coal dust, prompting the need for more efficient dust suppression solutions in the mining industry. This study shows that the addition of electrolytes to surfactants can significantly improve dust suppression efficiency. The proposed standardized sink test method offers a reliable way to evaluate the wettability of surfactant solutions, potentially benefiting other researchers conducting similar tests.

Experimental synthesis and performance comparison analysis of high-efficiency wetting enhancers for coal seam water injection

Jian Sun et al.

Summary: This study proposed the preparation of three kinds of high-efficiency wetting enhancers to improve the wettability effect of coal seam water injection. Through various experiments, the optimal enhancer was determined based on its viscosity, fluidity, and ability to reduce dust production at the source. The molecular dynamics simulation was used to verify the relationship between the enhancers and the mechanism of action, establishing that AMPS-IA/SA+SDS/AEO had the best wettability.

Experimental investigation on combined modification for micro physicochemical characteristics of coal by compound reagents and liquid nitrogen freeze-thaw cycle

Weibo Han et al.

Summary: An experimental study on combined physicochemical modification of coal was conducted to meet the urgent demands for efficient resources and sustainable development. The optimal physicochemical modification scheme included the use of mine water, SLS, nitric acid, and [Bmim]Cl for freeze-thaw cycles, resulting in significant improvements in coal wettability, porosity, and permeability. The synergy of combined modification and multi-field coupling led to a substantial increase in porosity and permeability, while reducing surface tension and enhancing coal mining safety and production efficiency.
