Improved oxidation stability of carbon-coated Ni nanoparticles synthesized by one-step electrical wire explosion

Jun-Hyeok Lee et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a rapid one-step route to prepare high-purity carbon-coated Ni nanoparticles and investigates their oxidation stability. The thermal oxidation of Ni@C nanoparticles is closely related to the burn-off of protective carbon shells, which effectively prevents the active core Ni nanoparticles from high temperature oxidation in air.

One-step conversion of lignin-derived alkylphenols to light arenes by co-breaking of C-O and C-C bonds

Zegang Qiu et al.

Summary: This study presents a 'shortcut' route for the transformation of alkylphenols by co-breaking the C-O and C-C bonds. Experimental results using 4-ethylphenol as a model compound showed high efficiency in achieving the co-breaking of C-O and C-C bonds. The influence of reaction conditions on the conversion rate and selectivity of products was investigated. Theoretical calculations also revealed the importance of the adsorption configuration of the alkylphenol molecule on the catalyst in the bond breaking process.

Tunable metal-organic framework nanoarrays on carbon cloth constructed by a rational self-sacrificing template for efficient and robust oxygen evolution reactions

Chong Lin et al.

Summary: Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are promising materials for oxygen evolution reactions (OER) due to their unique properties, but challenges such as low conductivity and organic-ligand-shielded metal centers can be addressed by designing MOF nanoarrays (MOF NAs) on self-supporting and conductive substrates. Modulating the morphology and electronic properties of MOF NAs through strategies like using self-sacrificing templates and adjusting ligand dosage can enhance their catalytic activity and stability, unlocking their potential for OER applications.
