Testosterone attenuates sevoflurane-induced tau phosphorylation and cognitive impairment in neonatal male mice

Yongyan Yang et al.

Summary: The study showed that lower brain testosterone concentrations in neonatal male mice compared to adult male mice contributed to age-dependent tau phosphorylation and cognitive impairment after sevoflurane anesthesia. Testosterone treatment increased brain testosterone concentrations and alleviated anesthesia-induced tau phosphorylation and cognitive impairment.

APOE and Alzheimer's disease: advances in genetics, pathophysiology, and therapeutic approaches

Alberto Serrano-Pozo et al.

Summary: The APOE ε4 allele and ε2 allele are respectively the strongest genetic risk factor and protective factor for Alzheimer's disease. While therapies targeting APOE are currently unavailable, recent research has expanded our understanding of APOE pathogenesis to include multiple pathological processes, offering valuable insights for therapy development.

The anesthetic sevoflurane induces tau trafficking from neurons to microglia

Yuanlin Dong et al.

Summary: Using nanobeam-sensor technology, researchers found that the anesthesia sevoflurane induces tau trafficking from neurons to microglia in mice, with microglia capable of taking up tau and leading to IL-6 production, shedding light on the mechanism of sevoflurane-mediated cognitive impairment.
