Use natural deep eutectic solvents as efficient green reagents to extract procyanidins and anthocyanins from cranberry pomace and predictive modeling by RSM and artificial neural networking

Mohammed Alrugaibah et al.

Summary: This research demonstrates that new non-aqueous organic solvents can effectively extract procyanidins and anthocyanins from cranberry pomace, with NDES 2 and NDES 8 showing the highest extraction yields, respectively. Additionally, artificial neural networking is shown to be an alternative or better approach than response surface methodology for predictive modeling in this context.

Impact of acetone-butanol-ethanol (ABE) and gasoline blends on the energy balance of a high-speed spark-ignition engine

Qijun Tang et al.

Summary: This study focused on the energy balance, engine performance, and combustion characteristics when using ABE as an alternative fuel in a high-speed spark-ignition engine. Results indicated that increasing the ABE blend ratio improved the brake thermal efficiency and reduced the percentage of exhaust energy, but also led to increased unburned energy emissions. Therefore, increasing the ABE ratio in ABE/gasoline blends can have various effects on engine operation.

Comparison and analysis of the effects of spark timing and lambda on a high-speed spark ignition engine fuelled with n-butanol/gasoline blends

Qijun Tang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of n-butanol blend ratio, spark timing, and lambda on a high-speed spark ignition engine. Increasing n-butanol ratio was found to improve engine performance but also slightly increase carbon monoxide emissions.
