The effect of blockage and tunnel slope on smoke spread and ceiling temperature distribution in a natural-ventilated metro depot

Jiaqiang Han et al.

Summary: The study investigated the coupling effect of blockage and tunnel slope on fire smoke spreading and ceiling temperature distribution in a metro depot with one closed end. It compared the fire plume behavior and ceiling temperature distribution in different slope situations and highlighted the impact of blockage on heat accumulation and fire burning rate. The coupling effect of blockage and tunnel slope was analyzed in relation to high temperature area at tunnel ceiling, and empirical correlations were proposed for temperature prediction.

Experimental and numerical study of smoke temperature distribution characteristics in a sloped tunnel

Yuxuan Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, the characteristics of smoke temperature distribution in a sloped tunnel structure were investigated, focusing on the impact factors of longitudinal airflow velocity and the establishment of prediction models. Through theoretical analysis and experiments, models for predicting the longitudinal temperature distribution of smoke were developed, with the modified model showing better fitting results when compared to numerical simulation and experiment data.
