Summary: In recent decades, wound dressings have advanced from simple gauze to sophisticated functional materials that can promote wound healing and eliminate bacterial infections. Nanoparticles and electrospinning technology have made it possible to fabricate composite nanomeshes with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory/analgesic properties, enhancing the effectiveness of wound dressings.

Effect of Side Groups on the Hydrolytic Stability of Thiolated and Disulfide Cross-linked Polyaspartamides

Benjamin Gyarmati et al.

Summary: Thiolated polyaspartamides with different side groups were synthesized and their hydrolytic stability was studied. DME side groups led to main-chain degradation, while DMP or HE side groups showed considerable stability. The structure-dependent aqueous degradation of polyaspartamides can be useful in various biomedical fields.

Side group ratio as a novel means to tune the hydrolytic degradation of thiolated and disulfide cross-linked polyaspartamides

Summary: This study investigated the controlled degradation of cysteamine-modified polyaspartamides with different side groups at different pH conditions, showing that the presence of DME side groups can induce degradation of the polymers. The degradation rate and stability of the polyaspartamides could be adjusted by varying the DME, DMP, and HE content. The results suggest that the degradation primarily involves main-chain degradation in the presence of DME groups.
