Influence of component damage on the mechanical performance of bracket set joints in ancient timber structures

Lu Dai et al.

Summary: This paper studies the influence of damage on the mechanical properties of the bracket set in ancient Chinese heritage buildings. The results show that the reduction of force area in the components of the bracket set significantly affects its bearing and deformation capacities, with the greatest impact on its stiffness. Damage to the Gong's first layer has the greatest effect on the strength and stiffness of the bracket set. Numerical simulation demonstrates that while lateral displacement of the component affects the seismic performance of the bracket set, its energy consumption ability remains good. The sidesway of the Cap Block has the greatest influence on the seismic behavior of the bracket set.

Effect of Performance Degradation and Infilled Walls on Seismic Fragility Assessment of Traditional Chinese Timber-Frame Structure

Chenwei Wu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of performance degradation and infilled walls on the seismic fragility of a traditional Chinese timber-frame structure. Results show that performance degradation significantly reduces the probability of intactness and increases collapse probability, while infilled walls enhance intactness probability and reduce collapse probability. It is recommended to repair and strengthen degraded timber structures and consider the coordinated seismic effect of walls and frames for seismic evaluation.

Seismic Performance Evaluation of a Roof Structure of a Historic Chinese Timber Frame Building

Chenwei Wu et al.

Summary: This study presents a finite element modeling method for predicting the lateral resistance and seismic response of a historic Chinese timber frame building's roof structure. The results indicate poor overall hysteresis performance and weak energy dissipation abilities, but demonstrate good structural integrity.
