Mental health and social support among nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the prevalence of mental problems and social support among nurses during the COVID-19 epidemic, and found that a significant number of nurses experienced depression, anxiety, and stress symptoms. However, most nurses had normal mental health. The results indicated a negative correlation between mental health and social support, suggesting that higher social support was associated with better psychological conditions among nurses.

Psychosocial Burden and Quality of Life of Lung Cancer Patients: Results of the EORTC QLQ-C30/QLQ-LC29 Questionnaire and Hornheide Screening Instrument

Summary: Overall survival is crucial in lung cancer therapy, but attention to psychosocial care is increasingly important. A satellite project was conducted within a prospective, international study to validate the EORTC QLQ-LC29 module for assessing the quality of life of lung cancer patients. Fatigue and dyspnea were the most prominent symptoms, with a significant portion of patients requiring psychosocial support according to the HSI questionnaire. The need for psychosocial support correlated with fatigue, existential fear, and diminished global quality of life.
