Superior optics Kerr effects induced by two-dimensional excitons

Feng Zhou et al.

Summary: This study reveals key insights into the optical Kerr effect (OKE) associated with 2D excitons and presents a concise formalism for predicting the nonlinear refractive index of 2D materials. The research shows that the OKE value of 2D materials is four orders of magnitude larger than bulk semiconductors, and identifies the 2D layered perovskite with the highest OKE efficiency at 1550 nm wavelength.

Preparation, characterization and third order optical nonlinearities of looped covalently bonded Anderson-type polyoxometalate-porphyrin hybrids

Hafiz Muhammad Asif et al.

Summary: The combination of porphyrin and polyoxometalates has been shown to open new avenues in the field of optical materials. The synthesized looped covalently bonded Anderson-type polyoxometalate-porphyrin hybrids exhibited enhanced non-linear optical responses compared to their precursors. The integration of electron-accepting polyoxometalate moieties and electron-donating porphyrin moieties significantly enhanced the NLO response of the hybrids.

Nonlinear optical properties of meso-Tetra(fluorenyl)porphyrins peripherally functionalized with one to four ruthenium alkynyl substituents

Xu Zhang et al.

Summary: The synthesis of a series of four porphyrin derivatives based on a meso-tetrafluorenylporphyrin core functionalized with organoruthenium endgroups is reported. The multipolar assemblies show potential electron-donors at the periphery and potential electron-acceptors at the central core. The extended networks incorporating polarizable organometallic units behave as nonlinear absorbers in the near-IR range, and the role of peripheral transition metal centers on the third-order NLO properties is discussed.

Nonlinear optical dispersion and higher-order effects in bulk and wavelength-ordered photonic materials

Jitendra Nath Acharyya et al.

Summary: The study investigates the dispersion of nonlinear optical coefficients and optical nonlinearities in materials, as well as the optical nonlinearities in wavelength-ordered photonic structures. The results show that in wavelength-ordered photonic structures, the optical field is deposited differently at different penetration depths inside the structure, leading to varying nonlinear contributions from individual layers.

Jitendra Nath Acharyya et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates ultrafast absorption dynamics and enhanced features of photonic modes in a one-dimensional photonic crystal embedded with barium titanate (BaTiO3, BTO). The transient absorption behavior and nonlinear absorption dynamics reveal the excited-state absorption dynamics of BTO defect energies and the enormous cavity field confinement effect. The strong optical nonlinearities and enhanced features offer insights into electron-photon interaction, opening up possibilities for novel nonlinear, hybrid optoelectronic, and photonic device applications.

Enhanced optical limiting and hydrogen evolution of graphene oxide nanohybrids covalently functionalized by covalent organic polymer based on porphyrin

Aijian Wang et al.

Summary: A novel graphene oxide nanohybrid covalently functionalized by covalent organic polymer based on porphyrin was reported for optical limiting and hydrogen evolution reaction catalysis. The nanohybrid showed significantly enhanced optical limiting and HER activity compared to individual components, with performance comparable to state-of-the-art materials. Synergistic effects and charge transfer between GO and TPPCOP were identified as important factors determining the optical limiting and HER performance.
