Absence of Normal Fluctuations in an Integrable Magnet

Ziga Krajnik et al.

Summary: This study investigates the dynamical fluctuations of transferred magnetization in a one-dimensional lattice Landau-Lifshitz magnet with uniaxial anisotropy. The results demonstrate that the structure of fluctuations in thermal equilibrium depends drastically on the characteristic dynamical scale. Fluctuations exhibit different characteristics in the ballistic, diffusive, and superdiffusive regimes, with implications for the presence of soliton modes and integrability breaking.

Observing emergent hydrodynamics in a long-range quantum magnet

M. K. Joshi et al.

Summary: Identifying universal properties of nonequilibrium quantum states is a major challenge in modern physics. In this study, researchers experimentally observed a family of hydrodynamic universality classes in a long-range interacting spin chain system, ranging from normal diffusion to anomalous superdiffusion, and extracted the transport coefficients of the hydrodynamic theory, reflecting the microscopic properties of the system.

Detection of Kardar-Parisi-Zhang hydrodynamics in a quantum Heisenberg spin-1/2 chain

A. Scheie et al.

Summary: Research findings show that the spin dynamics of the one-dimensional Heisenberg antiferromagnet KCuF3 can be described by the dynamical exponent z = 3/2, consistent with recent theoretical conjecture, demonstrating that low-energy inelastic neutron scattering can reveal details of emergent quantum fluid properties similar to those in higher-dimensional non-Fermi liquids.

Transverse Spin Dynamics in the Anisotropic Heisenberg Model Realized with Ultracold Atoms

Paul Niklas Jepsen et al.

Summary: The study utilizes ultracold atoms to simulate the dynamics of 1D Heisenberg spin chains, observing fast spin decay controlled by anisotropy and dephasing caused by the effective magnetic field from superexchange. The research also reveals new dephasing mechanisms, including inhomogeneity of the effective field, reduction of field at chain edges, and fluctuations due to mobile holes. These mechanisms have not been previously observed with ultracold atoms, providing insights into the Hubbard model.

Finite-temperature transport in one-dimensional quantum lattice models

B. Bertini et al.

Summary: Significant progress has been made in the theoretical understanding of transport properties in one-dimensional quantum lattice systems in the past decade, with Bethe-ansatz integrable models and novel simulation methods playing important roles. The discovery of quasilocal conserved quantities provides insight into the origins of finite-temperature transport behavior, while state-of-the-art theoretical methods, including matrix-product-state-based simulation and generalized hydrodynamics, are discussed. The close connection between theoretical models and recent experiments, particularly in the context of quantum magnets and ultracold quantum gases in optical lattices, is also highlighted.

Superdiffusion in spin chains

Vir B. Bulchandani et al.

Summary: This review summarizes recent advances in understanding anomalous transport in spin chains, particularly through the lens of integrability. Numerical methods based on tensor-network techniques have revealed anomalous transport in many canonical integrable spin chains, such as the Heisenberg model. The framework of generalized hydrodynamics has been extended to explain some of the underlying mechanisms of anomalous transport, with discussions on similarities and differences with other contexts. Further, potential transport anomalies in systems with emergent or approximate integrability are briefly reviewed, with ongoing research on anomalous transport and dynamics.

Stability of Superdiffusion in Nearly Integrable Spin Chains

Jacopo De Nardis et al.

Summary: The paper discusses the phenomenon of superdiffusive finite-temperature transport observed in integrable systems with non-Abelian global symmetries, attributing it to giant Goldstone-like quasiparticles stabilized by integrability. It argues that these giant quasiparticles have long lifetimes and divergent contributions to the low-frequency conductivity, even in systems that are not perfectly integrable. The study finds that for certain types of perturbations, the conductivity behaves similar to omega(-1/3) for translation-invariant static perturbations and similar to |log omega| for noisy perturbations, with a presumed crossover to regular diffusion beyond low-order perturbation theory.

Superuniversality of Superdiffusion

Enej Ilievski et al.

Summary: Anomalous finite-temperature transport behavior has been comprehensively explained through group theory in various integrable models in one dimension. The transport of Noether charges associated with symmetry G in thermal states invariant under G is universally superdiffusive, with a dynamical exponent of z = 3/2, regardless of the specific details of the system's symmetry, local degrees of freedom, Lorentz invariance, or microscopic interactions.
