Effect of Hydrogen Addition on the Energetic and Ecologic Parameters of an SI Engine Fueled by Biogas

Saugirdas Pukalskas et al.

Summary: The study investigates the variation in ecological and energy parameters of a spark ignition engine running on biogas and hydrogen mixtures, providing data for combustion optimization and emission reduction. The global policy aims to reduce fossil fuel usage and greenhouse gas emissions, with biogas serving as a potential solution. Biogas can help manage waste and reduce fossil fuel consumption, with potential applications in compressed natural gas engines with necessary modifications to the engine control unit.

Numerical analysis of the performance and NOx emission of a diesel engine fueled with algae biofuel-diesel blends

Mohammad Towhidul Islam et al.

Summary: This paper evaluates the fundamental running parameters and factors influencing NOx formation of algae biofuel-diesel blends, demonstrating that these blends have lower NOx emissions and satisfactory engine performance compared to conventional diesel fuel. The study also develops numerical models to investigate various parameters of a diesel engine using blended fuels.

Investigation of major factors that cause diesel NOx formation and assessment of energy and exergy parameters using e-diesel blends

M. N. Nabi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the key factors influencing the formation of diesel nitrogen oxides in ethanol-diesel blends using a thermodynamic model and simulation tools like GT-Power and ANSYS. Results indicated that higher in-cylinder combustion temperature, inlet temperature, injected mass, and advanced injection timing lead to increased NOx formation. Interestingly, all three ethanol blends showed lower NOx compared to neat diesel, despite minor variations in energy and exergy parameters with respect to oxygen ratio.

Fuel property improvement and exhaust emission reduction, including noise emissions, using an oxygenated additive to waste plastic oil in a diesel engine

Wisam K. Hussam et al.

Summary: This study conducted a comprehensive investigation on the physicochemical properties, engine performance, exhaust emissions, and energy and exergy parameters of waste-plastic oils blended with an additive, diethyl ether and diesel. The results showed that blends with higher oxygen content significantly reduced emissions while maintaining similar engine performance and energy parameters.
