Chemoinformatics-Driven Design of New Physical Solvents for Selective CO2 Absorption

Alexey A. Orlov et al.

Summary: The removal of CO2 from gases is crucial for transitioning to a low-carbon economy, and the use of selective physical solvents can lower energy requirements for solvent regeneration. However, only a few physical solvents are currently used in industry, and establishing models and conducting virtual screening can help identify compounds with high CO2 solubility and selectivity.

Mass transfer enhancement of falling film liquid desiccant dehumidification by micro-baffle plates

Hao Lu et al.

Summary: The study investigated the influence of baffle plates on the dehumidification performance of falling film liquid desiccant dehumidifiers, showing significant improvement in efficiency with the use of baffle plates due to liquid film waves, flow eddies, and high-value TKE distribution. In practical applications, higher baffle height and smaller baffle spacing lead to more significant enhancement effects.

The effect of alkanolamine mixtures on CO2 absorption efficiency in T-Shaped microchannel

Sara Janati et al.

Summary: The investigation focused on the removal of CO2 using aqueous mixtures of MEA + DEA and MEA + TEA in a T-shaped microchannel. It was found that increasing liquid flow rate and amine concentration can improve CO2 removal efficiency, while increasing gas flow rate has a significant negative impact. Under optimal conditions, the maximum CO2 removal efficiency achieved was 97.9% for MEA + DEA and 91.9% for MEA + TEA. Additionally, the use of microchannel in CO2 absorption process significantly enhances the volumetric overall gas-phase mass transfer coefficient, offering a new approach for achieving high absorption percentage.

Effect of fluid viscosities on the liquid-liquid slug flow and pressure drop in a rectangular microreactor

Haiyun Ma et al.

Summary: The hydrodynamics of liquid-liquid slug flow with various fluid systems were investigated to reveal the viscous effects of both phases. The study discussed the operation range, droplet formation, film thickness, and pressure drop of slug flow. Results showed the importance of inertia and viscous forces in flow pattern transition, leading to the adoption of a universal flow map and new empirical correlations for droplet formation and pressure drop.

Removal of dissolved oxygen from industrial raw water in a microchannel

Samira Jokar et al.

Summary: This study aimed to achieve the maximum percentage of dissolved oxygen removal from industrial raw water using microchannel technology. Nitrogen and natural gas were used as deoxygenation agents, with the Box-Behnken response surface method utilized for experiment design and analysis. By optimizing the temperature, gas/liquid flow ratio, and residence time, the study successfully reached high elimination percentages for both nitrogen and natural gas deoxygenation agents.
