Effective String Description of the Confining Flux Tube at Finite Temperature

Summary: As the temperature increases, the Effective String Theory accurately predicts several universal features of confining gauge theories, and its behavior near the deconfinement point is in good agreement with predictions based on conformal invariance or dimensional reduction, further supporting the validity of using an Effective String Theory approach to confinement.

The Unreasonable effectiveness of effective string theory: The case of the 3D SU(2) Higgs model

Summary: The study shows that even with string breaking in the three-dimensional SU(2) Higgs model, the confining part of the interquark potential can still be accurately described by effective string theory. Furthermore, the fine details of the effective string, such as higher order terms of the Nambu-Goto action or boundary corrections, can be precisely extracted from fits and agree with the predictions of effective string theory.
