New types of topological superconductors under local magnetic symmetries

Jinyu Zou et al.

Summary: By classifying gapped topological superconducting (TSC) phases in one-dimensional quantum wires with local magnetic symmetries, we have discovered new types of TSC phases beyond the known AZ class, each characterized by unique topological properties and Majorana zero modes (MZMs) under different symmetries.

Higher-order topology and fractional charge in monolayer graphene

Feng Liu et al.

Summary: Higher-order topological corner states can appear in monolayer graphene without introducing additional effects; the emergence of corner states depends on the corner angle and edge geometries; corner states in graphene can be indicated by the product of Zak phases.

Majorana signatures in charge transport through a topological superconducting double-island system

Jukka Vayrynen et al.

Summary: In this study, the dynamics of a charge qubit consisting of two Coulomb-blockaded islands hosting Majorana zero modes was investigated, with the qubit frequency determined by coherent single-electron tunneling between two islands originating from the hybridization of two Majorana zero modes. The researchers calculated the sequential tunneling current I through the double-island device coupled to normal metal leads and demonstrated that the I-V characteristics in the large-bias regime can be used as a measurement of the coherent Majorana coupling EM. The proposed dc and ac transport experiments for measuring EM were discussed, along with their limitations due to intrinsic dephasing mechanisms such as excited quasiparticles.

Voltage staircase in a current-biased quantum-dot Josephson junction

D. O. Oriekhov et al.

Summary: We investigate the staircase I-V characteristic generated by Rabi oscillations in a Josephson junction with a resonant level, providing a way to probe the coherence of the qubit. This phenomenon is similar to the Majorana-induced DC Shapiro steps in topological Josephson junctions, but now for a nontopological Andreev qubit.
